Just had a really crazy dream. In the first part, I was playing in some sealed Legend of the Five Rings tournament and lost after my first turn when my opponent flipped an event whose text was "Target opponent must write two 10,00 word poems about a Holding he has in play before this timer runs out." Then a timer (on the card itself) started. All I had in play was an Iron Works and all I had to write with was a ballpoint pen and a napkin which was not working. The timer ran out and my opponent began laughing maniacally and I had a HUGE temper tantrum. I was SO mad.
In the second part, I was part of a crew closing down (for a good) an ice cream/hamburger store. We were dismantling all the coolers and stuff and we found a TON of still-good food and ice cream. Then we found a HUGE stack of money and we decided to go see a movie in New York City! We took a weird mini-submarine to get there that went super fast! I fell down in the lobby and tore a huge hole in the seat of my pants. I asked a coworker if he knew where there was an Urban Outfitters near by and he said he charges big bucks for an urban Outfitter's finders fee so I just rolled with having a huge hole in my pants. The bathrooms in the theatre were really gross. None of the toilets or urinals flushed. All of their bases just slanted at a downward angle into a flowing river of sewage, which you could see through the toilet holes. The floors were covered in putrid water, too.
Anyway, we bought tickets for the movie, which was G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA. The actual cinematheque was really amazing; it had a giant screen and there was a piano and a chandelier in a little lit-up area right in front of the stage. We sat down a few seconds after the movie started, and whatever was happening on-screen was seemingly amazing. There was a strange guy with what appeared to be a video camera recording right in the middle of the aisle; weirded still was the fact that he was recording the audience, not the film, and there were speakers emitting a low whine on the sides of the room. After about five minutes of the movie, the projector stopped and the lights came up to reveal that the camera man was Cobra Commander, as played by Joseph Gordon Leavitt in the G.I. JOE film itself. He said we were lucky to be the first live test subjects of his new experiment. A group of kids to our right stood up and started freaking out but then suddenly just froze in place. Their heads started getting bigger and suddenly their flesh fell off to reveal robot heads. They were turning into the Decepticon cassettes who went into the big boom box guy from the Transformers. When all their human bodies fell apart and they emerged fully robotic, they each pressed play on a little boombox at their feet and aimed them at us! We ran out of the movie house and they started chasing us.
That's when I woke up.

BEST WEEKEND EVER! Well, best weekend in quite some time, at least, sans doute. SO much activity! SO much fun!
On Friday, I worked during the day and then Rita and Ben came into town for the night. They got here a little late, but we still managed to cram in a lot of fun and chatting and beers. Ben bought a case of PBR from the beer distributor on 48th and I bought a bottle of wine from work. Clash of the titans! Really fun!
I had to get up kind of early on SAT to work, but the day went by pretty quickly due to inclement weather. After work, Carrie and I made dinner and had some drinks while getting ready to go to Emily's DJ night at Elena's on Baltimore. Astra stopped by and hung out for a few minutes before well all left together. It was SO STINKIN' COLD on our walk over. Not fun. What was fun, however, was the atmosphere once we got there. It was kind of slow to pick up, but there were eventually really awesome parties both upstairs and down. The bar was mega cheap and we all danced like fools. Yeah! I talked to a bunch of folks I don't see all too often, including Brian and Marty, who I informed that I had stolen their coasters when they last hosted a fete. At one point, I fell hard against a wall and I think I poked my back with a nail or something, because I had a puncture wound the following day. No biggie!
I got to have off on SUN and we went to Emily's birthday brunch. It was the most fun I've had on a SUN in ages! First we biked to the South Philly Tap Room and had the aforementioned brunch. It was great eats! Carrie and I split a beet salad and a breakfast burger, which contained a meat patty, an egg, Hollandaise sauce, bacon, and cheese. YOWZA! I also had a really tasty Bloody Mary. We got to meet some of Emily and Ryan's buddies who all seemed very nice. A few of us headed to Emily's after that and man, we cut loose! We had snacks, drank drinks, and horsed around. Later on in the evening, Chris showed up too and we ate pizza and watched a bunch of videos by the Police, Tom Petty and Zack Galifinakis. Then we finally watched WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER! Carrie and I wanted to get home if at all possible but when we finally decided to roll out, it was pouring like so many cats and dogs so we just crashed there.
MON was basically a non-day. We didn't get home until a little before noon and we had a filthy bike ride back. We got cleaned up and Carrie went to work while I stayed at home and did a very lazy amount of cleaning and played a draft. I made a grocery run to Trader Joe's and then made burritos. We watched the end of PONYO, which we started last week, and most of the end of A SERIOUS MAN, which I grew to enjoy more in it's third act.
Today was TUE and I got up really early to work. The work day was fine but LONG. It was intermittently busy and dead, which made for a rollercoaster of ennui. I just got home not too long ago and I have just been relaxing so far. I am about to make some stir fry dinner and I think we are going to rent something on DVD after Carrie gets home from her swimming lesson at the Y. It will be another low key night, but that's a-okay by me! I need it.

It's my day off! All right! It has been cool so far. I was REALLY tired when I woke up this morning but a realtor was stopping by to snap some shots of our place for a listing and I had to clean everything up. It wasn't terribly messy, there was just a lot of stuff laying about and some dishes. I am kind of miffed because we may have to move out at the end of April if the house does sell. Who knows!
After the clean-up, I went to the Y and had a really great workout. I have been listening to the LCD Soundsystem 45:33 or whatever it is and it almost perfectly syncs up with my workout. It wasn't too busy and everyone was in a great mood! So nice. Thanks, spring!
After the gym, I decided to stop by Second Mile to see if I could find anything and I sure did! I bought three cool new shirts for summer and one pair of slacks destined to be turned into the first shorts of the summer.
Right now I am just relaxing at home before I head to Local 44 for Happy Hour with Carrie and Emily. I feel somewhat guilty going to Happy Hour considering that I didn't even work today but I don't even think it really matters. We might go to Whole Foods later as we have almost no food right now but that will depend on beers consumed and Carrie's sleepiness levels. Otherwise I can just go tomorrow. It will be a lovely day for a ride!

23 MAR 2010
Hey everybody!
I am relaxing at home right now, drinking some nice Torreo coffee. This past weekend was absolutely crazy at work. It was sunny and around 70 all weekend and we just got utterly destroyed. I closed last night with Astra and it was uneventful, as it was cool and really rainy all day. I'm in again tonight so I am building up a nice energy store. I am going to start making a carrot ginger and squash soup now so Carrie and I can both have a healthy dinner.
St. Patrick's Day ended up being a blast! We couldn't get into Mad mex (fortunately) so we went to La Terasse and met up with Emily, Maura, Colleen, and Danny for beers. It was fun and cheap! They actually had some decent beers on tap. Carrie and Colleen convinced everyone that doing an Irish Car Bomb was a great idea, so we did. That led to us heading to Local 44 for a beer, followed by a stopover at home to make some beet treats AKA selkie chow and some Lionsheads pilsners. Finally, we met up with a bunch of folks at Dock Street and had a pitcher of Bohemian Pilsner. A very fun night! We spoke in hushed tones of wee Jamie and the selkies.
The weekend was low key but fun. We went to a house party at the GATS' house on SAT night and Carrie and I both ate way too much meat, including some utterly delectable pork ribs. On SUN, we went to SHUTTER ISLAND, which was OK but rather hackneyed, and then we stopped in at the very end of an open mic at Copabanana where there were approximately eight people in the audience lounging around in the basement. It felt like walking in on someone you don't know's party in their parents' basement.
I really want to catch/watch a few more movies this week. I am stoked to watch A PROPHET and we have PONYO coming tomorrow on Netflix. Carrie and I also need to finish A SERIOUS MAN, which I am enjoying a lot. I also need to take more notes on the beers that I want to talk about, because I keep forgetting what I want to say.
Santa is being a true cutebox right now. I wish he would let me use him as a pillow more often. I believe that this spring air is getting his humours all riled up.

17 MAR 2010
Good morning!
It actually still is slightly morning! Wow, I woke up pretty early. Aaron gave me a call around 9ish to let me know that some dudes were coming in to our place to take a bunch of junk out of the basement. Well, they had to Sawzall a giant oil tank in half and that was loud. Now we have a bunch of dust and stuff all over our floor, too. Dang. not the way that I wanted to start the day. Ah well, I am still feeling posi! It's just glorious out and the air feels oh so nice. I am going to head to the Y in a bit to pump some iron and then I might do a draft online. Carrie, Emily and I are going to happy hour (Carrie wants to go to mad Mex for Shamaritas [shamrock margaritas]) and then I am going to make an extremely healthy dinner involving either beets or squash and tons of other fresh veg. YES! I miss cooking every night.
Somehow I made a round trip to Whole Foods yesterday in around an hour. Crazy! I sure was going quick, especially on the way there! I kind of miss having a long bike ride that I am obligated to do, as it is indeed a nice workout. I stocked up on tons of fresh produce that I cannot wait to consume. Work last night was a bit frustrating, as we were catching up with cleaning stuff until even after we closed, as we were down a midday person yesterday. It's OK, I am really relishing this day off having had two consecutive harsh closes.
Some beers I have had recently:
VICTORY STORM KING: This is one of the few Victory beers that I had yet to try and I regret waiting to try it as it's extremely delicious. Unlike some heavy stouts, it has zero harsh metallic aftertaste, and instead offers a substantial amount of molasses flavor backed up by just the perfect amount of bitterness and a faintly sweet aftertaste. This is not a beer that you'd want to drink more than one of at a time, but it is definitely a great way to cap the night.
DOGFISH HEAD 60 MINUTE IPA: A very even and clean IPA, well balanced and not overly bitter. Nice hinds of orange coupled with milder floral notes. While I would not describe it as mindblowing, 60 Minute is a well crafted, totally drinkable treat.
OSKAR BLUES GORDON: This has quickly become one of my favorite beers, a pungent and sticky wallop of a beer and goes down extremely easy. While Gordon has a goodly amount of sweetness, it is coupled with subtleties of both smooth malt and perfectly bitter hops. The smell is deceptively syrup but excellent. I LOVE GORDON!
VICTORY YAKIMA TWILIGHT: Carrie and I got a case of this because the distributor didn't have Nugget Nectar and this seemed like ti would be close, and I think that unfortunately tainted my opinion of this ale. Unlike Nugget Nectar, Twilight focuses almost exclusively on the malt side of this beer and the result is a too-sweet brew that is difficult to enjoy for too long. While it is nice to have some subtle hopiness, the flavor seems to get washed out by the sugariness of the whole thing.

16 MAR 2010
Lazy day! I closed the store last night and didn't get to bed until REALLY late. It was a pretty crummy close due to a constant stream of people from about 7PM on. Barf. This morning I actually got up well before noon and took Carrie's bike in to Firehouse for a tune-up. It sounds like she will be getting a lot of work done, including all new tires and break cables. That will be nice! I did a couple of drafts on MTGO and got housed twice in a row with seemed like really solid decks. Ah well, bad luck. I am going to quick hit up Whole Foods before work and refill our sadly empty refrigerator. I need some serious veg!
I had me a couple of beers last night:
STONE BREWING COMPANY LEVITATION ALE: I have never been too into any of Stone's stuff and this was no exception. All of their beers have this strange sort of metallic mouthfeel to me. Though this is supposed to be a milder brew it still generally feels flat, lacking in character.
DOGFISH HEAD APRIHOP: Aprihop feels like it is trying really hard to be two different kinds of beers and fails on both counts. The fruity, lighter side of the beer seems at odds with the idea of it being a pale ale, and while the wisp of apricot flavor does add a nice tanginess, it robs the beer of any other defining characteristics.
Off to the store!

I'm getting this thing back on track!
I am going to start posting beer reviews in here now. It's a good motivation to actually create content.
I've been busy lately and having a ton of fun. Justin DeGroot was in town this weekend and we had a bunch of fun and food and beers.
I have to work tonight but I am about to leave for the gym to PUMP some iron for the first time in a week. I hope that my back doesn't give out! Ooh, grandpa!

08 FEB 2010
Wowee zowie, have I been busy! It's been a while since my last entry into this rich and storied tome so I am sure that I won't remember everything that has happened since the last so I will just write a few things that are relevant for now.
I got the promotion at work! Quite exciting! It isn't going to be awesome to have to work a few nights a week, but I am not going to gripe. I am really looking forward to more responsibility and the opportunity to give my input on store issues. The first few closes that I did went really well, too, so that's nice. It is crummy that I won't be able to hang out with Carrie every night of the week. Shucks! I am going in early today to discuss my schedule. I hope it goes well.
We got smashed by another snowstorm this weekend and it was a downer. A bunch of stuff was closed on both SAT and SUN, including the Y! It's crazy how poor the snow removal here in Philly is. The roads are still caked with giant banks of snow three days after the initial snowfall and cars are still plowed into their spots on the sides of the road.
We played a We Are Gaga show last weekend at a house party and it was FUN! It sounds like we will be playing somewhat regularly as a few people asked if we could play more shows after that performance, and that is neat.
We watched the Super Bowl last night at Jessica Bikis' house (she was actually playing D&D during the game, though) and it was decent, though not as great as last year's game. I ate crappy pizza and had a few beers and actually ate some cheese puffs.
I brought home a spray bottle and we have been using it to deter Santa from knocking things onto the ground. It has been working really well! All we have to do now is pick up the bottle and he stops doing the bad behavior. He slept quietly on the couch last night instead of keeping us up all night. Fantastic!
I am sure that I am forgetting a ton of important stuff. This is why i should update this every day. Nuts.

18 JAN 2010
Hey hey! It's almost 19 JAN but not quite yet! I am getting ready to go pick Carrie up from the airport as her flight is getting in at around midnight. What a crummy day of travel for her, but I'll be very happy to have her back.
I did indeed end up being lazy yesterday. I did not go to the Y, but I did go to the draft at Redcap's and it was pretty decent. My only round loss was at the hands of Lucas Siow, and I would have won had I been on the play instead of the draw. That's not so bad. I also watched "In Bruges", which is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Excellent writing, great characters; to be honest, it reminded me of Kurosawa at times. I will probably end up buying it. I started watching "The Hurt Locker" but stopped about a half hour in, unimpressed.
Work today was rather dang good. It was Chris and I, joined by Maura at noon. It's MLK day and it was surprisingly busy, especially after 11AM, which is when I assume most Penn kids woke up. I had some leftovers after work and went to the Y early so as to still be able to make Gaga practice at 5pm. My workout was good (if sweaty) and I finished up just before 5pm, but I had received a text from Benn that he was feeling ill and wanted to bump practice. Ah well!
I spent some time at home doing dishes, cleaning Santa's box, etc. The house looks decent. The new bench stone is also GREAT. I sharpened the ancient Chicago Cutlery paring knife tonight and it's working like a charm. I made some delicious chicken burritos with peppers, onions, orange cauliflower, and kohlrabi and some other secret junk. I also watched "In the Heat of the Night", which is a Netflick that has been sitting on our DVD player for over a month. It was dang good, to be sure and an appropriate choice for MLK day. Kim was kind enough to lend me her car again, so I am going to go grab it in about 20 minutes and head to the airport. Man, I am looking forward to getting to bed tonight! It's a beautiful, warm night, though, and I am looking forward to getting out of the house for a spell as well. On that note, our house is still so ludicrously warm that I can barely stand to wear socks.

Well, hello! It's Sunday morning and, as predicted, it has felt like a strange weekend. It has been really fun, though.
On FRI night, Colin, Kim, Rachelle, Sean, Jake and I went to the Kingdom of Vegetarians for a giant dim sum feast. It was indeed quite fantastic. We were presented with WAY more food than we could ever hope to eat. It has been a while since I've had a food-consuming experience like that! Oof. After dinner, we hung out at the 20-Sided House, drinking Four Loko, which is possibly the gnarliest malt liquor on the market, listening to music and playing cards. The rest of the group went to some bike messenger event at Elena's around midnight but, having been to more than one bike messenger event at a bar before, I decided to instead go home and catch some sleep.
I woke up fairly early on SAT and headed to the farmer's market at Clark Park. There were fairly slim pickin's, but I ended up getting enough good stuff to conjure up and extremely delicious omelet when I got home. Sean, Benn and I were going to get together for Gaga practice, but Benn had been up for something like 36 hours straight working on getting Redcap's ready for the grand reopening, so we remanded practice until TUE. Since I was feeling a little stir crazy and it was an absolutely beautiful day, I headed to Fante's to pick up an Arkansas bench stone, which I have wanted for quite some time. Man, I LOVE that store; I was in there for a good half hour just looking at stuff after I picked out which stone I wanted. I then headed up to Whole Foods and stocked up on some groceries, stopping at Trader Joe's on my ride home to re-up Santa's nutritious food supply. I headed to Redcap's around 6pm to see the new space and play some games. The store looks wonderful! I ate way too much tomato pie and played a few rounds of a game where the players are a team of scientists trying to stop the spread of infectious disease around the globe (the name is totally slipping my mind). The players are competing against the game itself rather than one another, which is neat. Around 10pm, a big group of us all headed to 20-Sided house to watch "The Faculty", which I had not seen since it first came out on VHS. I straight-up passed out on the couch when I got home and only crawled into bed when Santa knocked something large off of the dresser in the bedroom.
I woke up pretty early again today and have just been bumming around so far, picking things up here and there. The house is kind of a mess and I'd like to have it looking good by the time Carrie gets home tomorrow night. It's cold and really rainy right now and I am debating what to do with my day. I was considering trying to head to the Y soon, but that is seeming rather unappealing to me right now. I am probably going to whip up another omelet (why am I loving these things so much lately?) and read some of the Sunday Times and see where the day leads from there. Two things I am definitely doing today: the draft at Redcap's new space and watching "The Hurt Locker", which I had been sitting on for a few days in hopes of the new projector getting here. Hopefully some inspiration strikes me at some point this morning.

14 JAN 2010
Well, well. It's been a few days!
WED was fun! We had a movie night at our house and watched the film "Moon". It was okay, but not great. Having company was nice. Baxter, Kim, Colin, Rochelle and Jessica all came over and we ate a ton of chips, salsa, guacamole, and popcorn. In fact, that was all that I had for dinner not counting the five beers so that may have contributed to my tired state on THU morning.
Let's discuss THU now! That was yesterday. It was a whirlwind of a day. Work went by quickly and when I got home, I only had a couple of hours before Carrie had to go to the airport for her trip to MPLS. We decided that she should take a cab just to be safe despite the fact that Kim offered to let us borrow her car, which would have resulted in a much long trip time. Even though we checked departure delays IMMEDIATELY before Carrie left and we were supposedly all clear, it turned out that she wouldn't make the ATL-MPLS leg of her flight due to a delay. She had the option of either staying overnight in ATL at a hotel or coming back on FRI morning for a departure time of 6AM. Needless to say, neither option was all that appealing. I borrowed Kim's car anyway and picked her up, a trip which reminded me how extremely stressful it is to drive in the city of Philadelphia.
I went to Penn draft and had a slightly irritating time. We had a six-man pod of M10-M10-Zendikar with a couple of good drafters and a couple of really bad drafters, resulting in four players running black and no one picking green cards until pack three. My only loss was to the guy who won the whole thing (and ended up playing green cards), so that was OK. Magic has just been really frustrating me lately. MAN!
One other note on THU: when I arrived home from work, I found an explosion of feathers and a severed sparrow head atop our welcome mat. Thanks, Santa! Carrie got a few funny pictures which I might post when she gets back. Before I had a chance to clean it up, I heard one of our landlord, Aaron's, kids crying loudly in the alleyway outside of our place and I think it's because he saw the pile of bird death. I had an extremely vivid dream this morning that Santa was killing and offering us increasingly large animals, including other cats and climaxing with a bum (human)!
Today is FRI and so far there is not a lot to report. The day kicked off with a really early wake-up call so that Carrie could get ready to catch her cab to the airport at 4:45AM. Work was SLOW and boring; the day was just draggin' and I didn't feel very animated at all. I was sent home early and now I am at home just relaxing. It's probably about time for a nap. One crummy thing: the new projector has yet to show up, which means it probably won't be here until next TUE since it's MLK day one MON. DANG! Carrie is going to be gone for the whole weekend so I am anticipating watching some movies, going to the Y, and cleaning. Oh! We are having Lady Gaga practice tomorrow to prepare for our show on 30 JAN, so that is cool, too! I am really excited to go to the farmer's market tomorrow and buy a bunch of veggies and cheese. BREAKFAST FEAST!
Well, it's time for that nap. Santa has been motionless and extremely quiet since I have been home and it's giving me some serious inspiration. My nap muse!

Should I change the name of this web log to Give us This Day Our Nigh-daily Ted? Perhaps.
I went back to work today and it felt nice, a return to normalcy, of sorts. I am already not looking forward to this weekend, as Carrie is heading to MPLS and I will probably waste my weekend again. The projector should be here in the next few days and I am getting ANXIOUS for its arrival. The UPS guy was milling around outside of work today for a while and it was driving me bonkers. IS IT HERE OR NOT, YOU BROWN IMP-DEMON?!
Last night was really fun. Carrie and I went to a going-away dinner party at Jake's apartment in South Philly (he is moving into Andy Gunn's old room at the 20-Sided house) and had a really fun time. Jake made pirogies and lamb stew (very delicious but OOOOOHHHH my stomach this morning) and we played a board game where everyone writes captions for New Yorker cartoons. It was called something like, "The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Board Game, and here is a photo:
A bunch of fun friends were there: Jake, Colin, Kim, Benn, Rachelle, Baxter, Jessica, and Sean. Good group!
I am quickly loosing my ability to type properly (some might even argue that I never have that ability) so off I go to the nap chamber. The plan for tonight is to make some chili, hit the Y (got lazy and skipped on Friday), then just relax at home. Off I go!

09 JAN 2010
Here it is again! Another Saturday night! WHOOPIE! Just kidding, I have no plans for tonight at all. Carrie is gone until tomorrow afternoon and I am not really feeling inspired to look for anything to do. I was considering seeing "Daybreakers" at the Bridge, but then I remembered how excruciating it is to watch movies on opening weekend at The Bridge. I was hoping to get to the Y after work but my nap overextended it's welcome by about an hour, resulting in what would have been a very short opportunity to exercise. I'm probably just going to do an online draft and watch a movie or two tonight, though I should dedicate at least a quarter-hour to folding laundry.
Work was painfully slow, though a new employee named Ezra had his first day, so I got to show him the ropes while we stood around and waited for customers to show up. It's strange to say it, but I am actually excited for the Penn kids to get back and give me something to do again as the last two days of work have been some of the slowest since we've been open.
OK, I am going to brew up some coffee and grab a snack. LATERS!

08 JAN 2010
What a strange day! Today was the first time that I have worked a full shift since the middle of December and it was DEAD. Fortunately, Chris was there to trade jokes with me and he taught me how to turn my toots into cats. Aside from that, I made four espresso drinks and fidgeted more than I have before in my adult life.
My post-work plan was to go to AMFDM's first show in Delaware with the 20-Sided House friends, but Santa escaped outside when I got home and I couldn't lure him back in time to catch a ride with Benn. Dang! Ah well, I will probably just nap and maybe go to FNM later. It'll be nice to relax a little before another workday tomorrow.
Carrie is on a ski trip in northern Pennsylvania with Colleen & Danny and his friend circle. It snowed a lot last night, so it will probably be great skiing weather! I have never been a huge skier, so I decided to sit it out and be a bum at home instead.
I bought a new jacket yesterday and here is what it looks like:

I hope it makes me look like less of a dope than the model here.
Dang it, Santa! Where the heck did you go! I want to take a nap here!
Oh! Last night was fun. We went to Vietnam Cafe with Jessica for dinner. We all had various martinis and tons of delicious food. After dinner, we went to Queen of Sheeba and did karaoke. I sang "Senorita" by JT and "This is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan. People were actually dancing and going crazy! It was strange but fun.

Dang, I missed a day of blog! That's OK. It has been such a lazy week so far. I did not do too much today at all. I did do a little bit of cleaning and vacuuming but not a lot else. I also ran some errands, though, including putting the extra copy of The Sims 3 that we had in the UPS mailbox. Oh yeah! Our nice neighbors at 634 S. 48th Street were kind enough to hand deliver the mis-delivered copy of the Sims 3 right to out front door after the idiot UPS guy delivered it to them (what an idiot!). In case it isn't obvious, both Carrie and I are really disappointed by the constant failures of our UPS/USPS/FedEx carriers, even though we have now trained them to put our packages behind our couch. There should be some kind of rating site like "Rate Your Lettercarriers" and you could totally burn them on the Internet! One can dream, right?!
We did spend a ton of money in the past couple of weeks, but it's OK. Rent, a new digital projector (arriving in the next week or so [no thanks to you, UPS man!]), and I may order a new winter jacket tonight, still. Anyone who wants my old winter jackets: let me know. They are all either designed for people with very short torsos or on the verge of disintegrating.
We are going to go to Vietnam Cafe with Jessica in a minute here as a thank you for taking care of Santa while we were gone. Thanks, Jessica! We will feast on fried noodles and drink some Yellow Tail chardonnay.
Why do I have to go to work tomorrow? WHY!

05 JAN 2009
Today is day two of my pseudo-vacation week and it's going fine. I cleaned up the bathroom thoroughly yesterday and started picking up other parts of the house and today I am going to clean up our living room. Our house is a disaster right now. It's probably almost as messy as it has been since we've moved in! Dang.
Despite the searing cold, I managed to bike to the Y last night for the first time in something like twelve days and it felt great. I started doing bench presses for the first time ever in my exercising life and man! It sure felt weird. I am going to try and change up my routine a little and strengthen some muscle groups that I haven't been working on much. We had a really great (though late) dinner of curried veggies which we zested a good amount of lemon peel into with my new zester and MAN was it delicious! Viva la zest!
It seems that I am going to get a promotion at work. Huzzah! I have been feeling pretty unmotivated recently, between the drag of the lack of customers and the seeming indifference of some of my coworkers, so this is good. A little extra dough would be nice, too.
We did a six-man draft at Redcap's yesterday and it was alright. Good dudes showed up and my deck was solid, but I had a REALLY disappointing last game in round three wherein I didn't draw a land on nine consecutive draw steps. I love Magic sometimes. There were some contractors tearing apart the video store while we were there, which was kind of cool to be present for. They had, however, propped open both of the doors and the heat was off, so it was quite a frigid draft. I am excited to see the new space, at any rate.
I just checked IMDB to see what is coming out on DVD this week and the biggest title is "The Final Destination". Dang. Next week is the release of both "The Hurt Locker" and "Moon", so that's exciting. Why the heck is there so much promotion for "Legion"? I remember seeing the trailer for that like six months ago, and it's not even out until the end of this month. Ah, I should probably be putting this stuff in TGGYH, which I will be updating later today anyway. Bah!

04 JAN 2009
Today is day one of five this week which I have off, followed by the next three consecutive days and Sunday as well. Capogiro Penn is closed due to the excessively lengthy Penn break, of course. My plans include thoroughly cleaning the bathroom and putting our new cabinet in (Justin broke the last one during his last visit by putting his head through one of the doors), playing in a paper Magic draft at Redcap's at 2 with Tom and a couple of his friends, and going to the gym when Carrie gets done with work. The rest of the week should be more cleaning and organizing. We might also buy a new projector this week as a birthday present for the both of us, which is very exciting.
I fell asleep last night while watching Up, which is strange since I really enjoy that movie.
The past week or so has been really odd in that I have almost no concept of what day of the week it is. All my usual landmarks are awash in year-end blur, and the situation doesn't seem like it will get any better before next week. Ah well.
Santa is attacking the foam from the packaging on the cabinet we got for the bathroom from Ikea. And life goes on.
